In my own setup, which is based on a slightly different setup suggested by someone else, a ChangeRange node is used rather than an Intensity node to control the range values. The thing that is still unknown, though, is what the settings should be for the Intensity node. Closer! Ya, I have the manual, and read that part. there's a few 'variable' involved that give different results in different combos (.grey = 0 or black = 0. I'm assuming that relates to whether you tell 3DCoat to save the displacement map with grey being 0 or not. I had the most sucess when I set my input min to 0.5 (otherwise you get balloon guy again). like setting the input min to 0 and the input max to that number. and that probably needs to be used somehow in the rescaling of the displacement map (via the ChangeRange node, or the Intensity node). I don't know exactly what that is, but I assume it's some sort of indication of the actual used range ('distance' between the highest and lowest point of your displacement map maybe?). and that would definitely explain the seemingly low res results I was getting!Ĭheck out the pop up window with the displacment value that appears right after you export (manually) a displacement map. Good point about the geometry approximation. I managed to get it 'working', but was never sure if the intensity was exactly right. I had it working with my (slightly different) method, but really wasn't sure what I should have set the Input min/max and Output min/max values to in the ChangeRange node. I really appreciate your efforts, Carlosan.
